3. How does this all work?
Our patented gift card system allows us to sell your gift cards for their cash market value, which is passed on to American Forests and used to plant trees. 4. What gift cards do you accept?
We accept any gift card of any value for donation to plant trees.

5. Can I make a donation and receive a gift if I don’t have a gift card?

Yes! Just click the “donate cash” button in the right column of this page and choose the value you would like to donate. You will receive the same free gifts as are listed for donated gift cards.

6. How long until I receive my gift?

This varies from gift card to gift card. It can take from as little as 2 weeks to a month or more. Please wait at least 4 weeks before getting nervous.

7. Can I donate more than one card at a time?

Of course! Just make sure you complete the information on the form for each card you are donating.

8. What is an electronic gift certificate and why can’t I use one to help plant trees?

An electronic gift certificate is usually a redeemable number you get through a website or by email, not a plastic gift card. We cannot accept these types for donation because their value and expiration date cannot always be verified and so they are impossible or difficult to exchange for their cash market value.

9. What organizations do you work with to plant trees?

We are currently planting trees exclusively through American Forests, a trusted organization that has been in existence for over a hundred years.

10. Wait a second, I thought stores didn’t give money back for their gift cards. How do you get money for my gift cards?

That’s true, currently establishments that issue gift cards will not give cash back in exchange for their gift cards. That is why we can only get the cash market value, which usually is not the full value of the gift card. We do not work with the establishments that issue the gift cards to unlock the monetary value, but rather sell them to individuals who find them useful for themselves or companies that work in reselling gift cards. This way people are able to buy gift cards at a discount that they can make use of, stores retain customer traffic, and trees are planted. Everybody wins.

The form takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes to complete. Once you see how many thousands of pounds of carbon you contribute you can begin to appreciate how much of that can be reversed by simply planting a tree.
